Here’s how to slice a PNG file. I use this technique for years, hope this will help you out.

Shortcuts used:

ctrl+; -> show/hide guides
ctrl+l -> hide layer
ctrl+g -> group
ctrl and + -> zoom in
ctrl and – -> zoom out
ctrl+1 -> zoom 100%
tab -> hide/show panels

ctrl+shift+g -> ungroup
<hold space><drag cursor> -> move canvas left/right/top/bottom
