Dreamweaver Tips – Document Defaults

Have been writing HTML and want to add a link to your CSS automatically?

For XP , just edit:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\DocumentTypes\NewDocuments\Default.html

for my case I have this default below, this applies to all other documents like CSS, PHP, JS etc..

  1. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
  2. <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
  3. <head>
  4. <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
  5. <title>Untitled Document</title>
  6. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/defaults.css" />
  7. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/styles.css" />
  8. <!–[if IE 6]>
  9. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/ie.css" />
  10. <![endif]–>
  11.
  12. </head>
  13.
  14. <body>
  15. </body>
  16. </html>
